Strong performance by the TanZebras in their first league match

Finally, football in the 3rd division again!

The TanZebras have played several friendly matches to bridge the long wait for the start of the league and to be well prepared for the season. Yesterday, at 15:00 local time, the time had come: Kisa FC and TanZebras FC faced each other in the “Stadium” Margereza to play the first match of the 3rd League. The opponents Kisa FC were already considered favourites in the run-up to the match. A strong team from the district “Kinondoni” in Dar es Salaam, which was founded in 2011. Rumours have reached us that Kisa FC also have two players from West African countries “under contract”.  Whatever that may mean…. 🙂

The game was hard-fought in the first half on “deep ground”, sandy ground to be precise. Up to half-time, both teams delivered balanced but intense duels. The chances were evenly distributed in the first half, but a goal was yet to jump out for either team. The first half ended 0-0 after 45 minutes.

In the 46th minute, the player Eddy Weche gave the TanZebras a 1:0 lead! Consequently, the game was very hard-fought in the final phase. In the 78th minute, our opponents Kisa FC were awarded a controversial penalty. The result was the 1:1.

The 1-1 draw was then also the final score of the match. Our coach Doudy said after the game: “This gives us hope that we are in a good position in the league. I think we will win the next game“.

Other observers of the match reported the strongest performance of the TanZebras ever. We are looking forward to the next games, on Sunday, 17 October we will play against the team of Segera FC.
